About

The Gateway Project was established in the year 2000 and is a unique training programme for local women in the Inner City of Dublin.

Gateway’s ethos is to provide a service to women who live in the community and who have become marginalized due to disadvantage, women in recovery from addiction, low income and a lack of education and opportunity. We welcome all ethnicities and backgrounds. The project focuses on two main areas of support; firstly, by providing a wide range of quality, accredited training to help women progress into further training and/or employment. The training is QQI accredited, from level 3 to level 5, in partnership with the City of Dublin Education and Training Board. Secondly, is to provide a holistic framework of support tailored toward an individual's specific needs; delivering life skills training and literacy support. Gateway’s tutors and staff along with local support networks, together work to nurture the full potential of the participants in realizing their individual goals.

Participants have progressed to the following roles:

• Health Care Assistant
• Child Care Worker
• Special Needs Assistant
• Retail Assistant
• Maternity Nurse
• Office Administrator & Receptionist
• Dublin City Council Officer
• Community Development Officer
• Project Worker
• Higher Education at Degree Level

We look forward to continuing our work at the Gateway Project reaching out to support women who are looking to make a change in their lives for the better.

I started Gateway as a CE participant in 2014. I was new to Dublin and new to recovery. I had left school with little qualifications. Gateway continued to support me throughout college. I went on to secure employment and have recently landed my dream job. Gateway was where it all started for me, it literally was a gateway to a new life. Without the support of the staff I wouldn’t be where I am today.
